This isn't a true before picture because I always get so excited to start a project and forget to take a before. When I first found it, there were three drawers. I love the shape, and the size is perfect, but that white and gold had to go!
Brian took the top drawer out and cut some wood to fit into the top as a shelf. He also cut out a place for the cords to come out of the back.
Time to paint! I made my chalk paint by combining a sample can of Valspar from Lowe's with a little plaster of paris until I got a thick cake batter consistency as the directions had stated. I was very pleased with how well this paint stuck and how well it covered. Without any priming or sanding, the dresser was repainted in two coats. I did have to touch up a few area with a 3rd coat, but the whole dresser covered with about 1 and 1/4 cans of sample paint. I am pretty pleased with the outcome!
I did a few accent areas with a mix of white trim paint we had in the basement mixed with some plaster of paris. I then covered with Minwax Paste Wax and... done!

I did order some Minwax Dark Paste Wax and plan on distressing it some when it comes in the mail. I had to order it off of Amazon because they don't sell it at Lowe's. I just love giving an old piece of furniture new life.
